CD Burning Always Fails

I have two CD/DVD RW drives and no matter what I do I cannot get a burn to go
through using the native Vista burning. Basically it says it is adding files
to the image, then as soon as it prepares to burn it throws up an error
message that says, "There was a problem burning this disc" "There was an
error burning this disc. The disc might no longer be usable."

I have the following drives:

Plextor PX-760A (latest firmware is installed - v1.05)
LG GSA-4163B (latest firmware is installed - v1.05)

This is happening on the x64 RTM Ultimate Edition of Vista (MSDN)

I don't see anything in the event log (but I might be looking in the wrong
place).

Can anyone help me out?

if using a blank cdr or blank dvdr click on computer, right click the cdr or
dvdr drive, click explore then choose the second option.(the cdr or dvdr
will then be ready to burn.

if using a blank cdrw or dvdrw click on computer, right click the cdrw or
dvdrw, click explore then choose the first option. (this option will write a
few files to it making the cdrw or dvdrw ready to add more files to them
later).

Worst case scenerio, check your system redources to make sure your burning
resources are on, not to mention go into my computer, right click on your CD
/ DVD burner, click the recording setting, and make sure that one of your
burners are set as the default recorder for your system.

Hope this helps :)

the failure.

Okay, well, this may sound foolish, but I had this problem at one time.
Check your disks. Make sure they are the correct disks for your machine.
With my first DVD burner, a DVD+r burner, I didn't know and picked up a
package of DVD-r disks for it. Well, it wouldn't even see that there was a
blank disk there. Now, if you are using a DVD+/- r drive, I don't know what
to tell you, but if you are using a DVD+r or DVD-r, your issue may be that
you simply picked up the wrong disks.

Wish I could offer more..
