CD burner & Win XP problem

H

Howard Davis

I'm having a problem with burning CDs using Easy CD Creator basic, recently
updated with a download to enable it to recognise my CD burner. (My Dell
came with Win Me, and I upgraded to XP home edition.)

It usually works, but several times the tray has closed on a blank data CD-R
and it just stays
frozen shut with the drive not responding to anything I do. The only
solution is to reboot. I also get spurious pop-ups asking me what should be
done when a CD is detected, etc. I have indicated to do nothing
automatically.

Do I need to install some software patch, or a new driver?
If so, where can I find these?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hi Howard,

Download and install a patch from the following URL to delete upper
and lower filters from the Windows registry:

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts/xp_cd_dvd_fix.vbs

Use: Download the file to your computer and double click on it to
install. Norton anti-virus software will warn you of a
'malicious' script, this is normal if you have "Script Safe"
or enabled. You can choose "Authorize entire
script" option next Action.

Good luck
