CD and CDRW no longer working

They used to work fine until not too long ago. Now they
do all kinds of crazy things. When I put a CD in you can
hear the CD spinning and the light lights up. But on the
CDRW you never see the CD even being recognized on 'my
computer' and on the CD it comes up as being there but
reads it all wrong when you choose to open it up. I have
used the same CD's in another computer and they work
fine. Any help is MUCH appreciated!
Thanks!

Rt click on MyComputer>select Properties>Hardware>Device
Manager>Dvd/Cdrom Drives. rt click on both of yours
and choose uninstall. Also, if you know which IDE channel ( Primary or
Secondary ) you have your drives on then select
IDE/ATAPI Controllers. Expand and rt click on Primary or Secondary and
choose uninstall. Restart and let XP reinstall
them. You can check at Kelly's
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm Select C and scroll to Cdrom
problems.
