CCleaner 2.0

Features of CCleaner 2.0:

Complete rebuild in C++
With the requirements for a portable version, 64-bit compatibility and
Windows Vista increasing against the limitations of the old architecture. We
decided to rebuild the entire CCleaner application in highly optimized C++.

Faster analyzing and cleaning
Each scanning process was rewritten from scratch and fully optimized. The
result being a noticeable speed increase in all areas.

Portable
CCleaner can now run from a USB thumbdrive and be installed/run on a
computer without a complicated setup process.

Compact
The rewrite removed all external file dependencies, so the main EXE is now
half the size of the original program and support files.

Redesigned User Interface
The original CCleaner user interface was looking a little dated, so the GUI
was redesigned with a modern look, but without sacrificing speed or
usability. New icons were created for the interface and the main program icon
was updated with a more modern style.

Exclusions
It is now possible to specify files, folders and registry keys to ignore
from the cleaning process.

Loads of little tweaks
Too numerous to mention them all separately, we've tried to improve CCleaner
in all areas.

I think i will wait till it comes out of beta first

Hi Robin,
I have the luxury of having a "test" machine to run Beta software.
On my "home" box - never...

I went for the beta for about a week now and didn't post the release of 2.0
because of it being beta and also of reports in their forum of it being
a little buggy. New look, scans are faster, installs right over the older
version
(there is no need to uninstall older version first) the new install takes
care of
that. I am experiencing some things i guess you would call a bug : some of
the icons in my favorites in IE and MSN Explorer favorites are the CCleaner
icon with URL's that have nothing to do with CCleaner. Also there are three
files : IE 5\ index. Dat - that are "Marked For Deletion" but arent cleaned.
Other then that same o'l program.

BTW. That thing with the icons being changed happened to me another
time before, it was after a patch tuesday in which many of my icons in
favorites was changed to the CBS television logo the round black circle
and the letters CBS inside. Went away after a day and i'm still wondering
why and how ? Enjoy , Ron

My CBS logo appears the same as you describe, I would not worry.
Assuming all of your 'Patch Tuesday' updates installed correctly?
If no, please let me know and I will escalate it to the MS Security Team.

Hi Randy, no i'm happy with the beta as most of the people in the Piriform
forum are also, this 2.0 version looks very stable.
Will do, Ron - if the Beta is right by you and others, I cannot argue that :)
I'm keeping it and thanks for the come back the CBS issue.
You're most welcome!
Aware of the Forum URL, thanks.

No opinion on this one Robin as I will not run it.
Always runs Betas on test or "throw-away" boxes, if possible.
This has been *my* practice over (many) years, I *encourage* it.

Randy you did not test this one on your test machine at all?
No, Robin, I haven't as I don't use the program that much anyway.
Good piece of freeware though, works as it's supposed to and usually
doesn't make a mess unless you misuse it.
