You might trust this a little more, go to 'start', 'settings', 'control
panel', click 'system', then click 'advanced' tab and click the 'settings'
button under heading 'startup & recovery'. Uncheck 'automatically restart',
click 'OK'. reboot

I tried F8. I brought me back to the same screen. I
tried F11, but the system does not have the ability to
partion and restart, only to reformat the entire disk.
So I guess my only choice is to hook the HD up to an old
computer ( I have one that runs Win '95) and puul the
files I'd like to keep off the drive and then completely
reformat the disk. I can't seem to make the disk I want
to pull the info off of a slave drive. I have the win95
computer look for new hardware, but got nothing. Any
ideas?

I cannot get to the windows menu to do any of that.

Weird. This morning the I started to get the same exact error message on XP
Home. The last thing I did last night was get the latest online update for
XP from Microsoft. Now I can't get my system started and my XP disc is at
work. So I'm using my laptop at home today.
