Casper xp

I see a lot of folks recommend image programs for back up. Usually it's
Acronis, Ghost, or Terabyte. I recently set up a back up system for a small
business using Casper XP. The system had to be as easy to use as possible for
totally non technical types. I put a drive rack in each machine and once a
week all the machines are totally imaged to a single hard drive which is then
stored in a safe place. If any system in the office suffers drive failure
they can immediately install and run right off the back up drive while
waiting to install a new drive. If it is just an OS failure they just pop the
backup drive in, boot, and restore the OS. I automated the whole back up
process for them so all they must do is insert the back up drive and click an
icon on the desk top and bing, bang, boom; it's a done deal. The back up
process also makes a back up image of there documents to a backup partition
on their internal hdd. Simple daily data backups are done to other media. It
really works sweet, no boot disks or the like. I think its a nice solution
for a small serverless environment.

I've been using Casper XP for several months, now, and it
*is* sweet and simple and it does the job well. It will put a
copied bootable partition onto a backup drive that already
has other bootable backed-up partitions on it - just like Ghost,
but without Ghost's higher price and without Ghost's need
for .NET Framework - and Acronis's True Image can't do that.
I started out using the free trial version of Casper XP that I
downloaded from www.FSSdev.com/products/casperxp/ ,
and after 30 days I liked it enough to buy the full version for
$50. Eventually, True Image might have the same individual
partition cloning capability and I'll check it out, but for now,
I use Casper XP for my full-system backups.

P.S. I am not in any way associated with Future Systems
Solutions other than as a satisfied customer.

I have been using Casper version 3 XP for a month now. Extremely
satisfied, it took 30 minutes to create duplicate partitions on a
second hard drive, and a complete backup - all automatically.
Now it takes 4 minutes on average to do another backup, I do it twice
a week.
I went into the bios and changed the boot order to the second hard
drive, rebooted, and had an exact duplicate of my computer in less
than 5 minutes.
Casper (Future Systems Solutions) tech support answered my e-mails
about using an external hard drive in less than 4 hours, even on a
Saturday.
Cost in $45 if y'all ask for a discount, or get a code from the smart
computing or other magazine ads.
I am in no way associated with the company except as a happy user.

I was amazed at the tech support, too. I've emailed
FSS twice, both times on a weekend, and I got a reply
within about 8 hours. The tech rep was so well informed
that I wondered if he was the *author* of Casper XP! :)

It's interesting to hear that there is a discount or promo
rate. But even at full pop, Casper XP still costs less than
the other utilities. I know I got my money's worth.
