Casper XP Partition Problem

I've used the trial version of Casper XP last fall. I two hard drives. One is
Samsung (boot drive), the second is Western Digital. I wanted to create a
clone to my WD hard drive. So I cloned the Samsung to my WD drive. I then
partitioned the unallocated space on my WD drive to (2) other partitions thus
making my WD drive into 3 total partitions. All went well without a hitch.

Today, I decide to buy the Casper XP so I can back up my Samsung boot drive
to my WD drive by using the Copy disk 1 to Copy disk 2 shortcut. After
completion, I noticed that my other (2) partition went missing. Using
diskmanagment, it shows the cloned partition but not the other (2). Casper XP
is telling me that there is unallocated space that needs to be partitioned.

My delima is that I NEED THOSE TWO PARTITIONS BACK because I have way too
much work on it. Where did I go wrong in my cloning? Can it be recovered?

Thanks for you time.

Also you might want to ask CasperXP tech support.

The OP probably used the wrong Copy mode. One
is for copying the entire contents of one HD to another,
making the copied data the entirety of the destination
HD - useful for upgrading to a larger HD. This is the
default Copy mode and probably the Copy mode that
the OP used. The other Copy mode is to copy just one
partition to one existing partition on the destination HD
or to copy just one partition to unallocated space on the
destination HD. This is the Copy mode that should
have been used. The choice is offerred on the screen
during setup of the Copy operation, and it's the only
choice that one has to make on that particular screen.

The data in the other 2 partitions may still there on the
disk if it wasn't overwritten by the copied partition. If that
data in the other 2 partitions is really worth a lot, the OP
should look for a data recovery service. It should be
quite easy for a recovery professional to restore those
partitions as it was probably only the partition table
entries that were erased - not the data. In the meantime,
the OP shouldn't make any new partitions.

Tim Daniels in his post hit the nail on the head; Casper is really not
a partition manager as much as it is a super backup means. I have had
really good luck with tech support via e-mail, try:
(e-mail address removed)
In the meanwhile, don't overwrite any of the files which y'all believe
are gone until the Casper folks respond........luck......hth
