Since installing an internal multi card reader Windows 2000 won't open
unless there is a card in one of the slots, it gets past the BIOS then just
stalls. It is OK if I unplug the card reader from the mainboard.

Any ideas.

is it set somewhere in the BIOS to be a boot device?

Thanks Steve, I altered the BIOS boot to C Drive/CD/Floppy but if I press F8
and get into the Win 2000 boot sequence the card reader is listed so using
the up/down key I select the HD then press Return but that doesn't solve the
problem.

Its not that easy with NT based OS's (which 2000 and XP are).

If you "move" the order of the drives it really messes things up as you've
found.

You'll need to look into editing the boot.ini file, but be warned if you're
unsure of what you're doing its easy to mess you're ssytem up.
