Card reader apparently empty

My daughter's USB memory card reader is recognised by her machine (the new
drives show up) but the data on the card cannot be seen. The reader works
fine in my machine. Both machines support USB2.

A friend has exactly the same problem with a different card reader and two
different computers.

Have tried rebooting, front and rear USB ports, different USB cables.

Any better ideas?

And are all the Card Readers the same model and manufacturer ?

For example, take a SanDsik UltraIII 133x card. There are some card reader models that
won't work with the UltraIII but work fine with UltraII.

So you must look at the model and manufacturer of the CF card and the model and manufacturer
of the CF card reader.
