capturing styles formatting

I have taken the re-formatted the ByLaws of an organization using headings &
styles. Since someone else, with no knowledge of styles, will inherit these
bylaws, I have been asked to convert the bylaws back to manual formatting
.... viz., to Normal style. In Excel, there is an opportunity to copy
cells containing formulas and paste back the value only. Is there anything
similar for styles?

Backwards step. You should refuse to do it. Educating the inheritor would
be a far better option. Or, do the same as you would in Excel, use Copy and
Paste Special and paste as a picture. The inheritor will then either have
no trouble at all or will be completeley [add your own word]

I agree with Doug. Leave the Bylaws as they are. There will still be nothing
preventing an inheritor from creating new text in Normal style with direct
formatting, but perhaps he'll see the superiority of styles.

Suzanne,

Thanks for pointing out the obvious:
"There will still be nothing preventing an inheritor from creating new text
in Normal style with direct formatting".
Hope I can sell that to my client (my wife).

The inheritors are a group of old (literally) ladies. We're happy they're
using the computer at all. I volunteer teach basic and intermediate Word to
Seniors with a national organization, SeniorNet. Sometimes getting them to
learn more than the basic minimum for email, is like cutting teeth. I've
talked Styles for years ... but no real takers. My wife is a different
story; she heads up a university library and I am still trying to convert
her!
