Capturing from a Sony DCR-TRV340E Handycam

I have a Sony DCR-TRV340E and wish to transfer some footage onto my PC.
Unfortunately I do not have the CD which was supposed to come with the camera
so do not have Pixela ImageMixer Ver. 1 I am sure the CD was never supplied
but cannot go back to the retailer since the Handycam was purchased in
Gibraltar. I downloaded the USB driver from the Sony website but can find no
mention of Pixela ImageMixer. Does anyone know either where I can download
the Pixela software or will Movie Maker do the same job?
Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, MM2 old version now BUT you can get MM2.1 new version and it can do much better job of making movie. Do you have fire-wire or
IEEE-1394 cable and port in PC?

Hi Lee,

I think the Imagemaker disk did come with my TRV740E, but I never used it.

Instead I used the Firewire connection to download with Windows Movie Maker
1
which came with Windows XP. A few months ago I upgraded to Windows XP S2
which included Movie Maker 2.

I think your 340E has a firewire connection (ieee.1394).... just consult
your manual
to see if you have one.

I had the firewire card installed into my PC (it was already installed on my
laptop).
Just plugged it into the camera and opened Windows Movie Maker.

Papa John has lots of useful information on how to use WMM 1 and 2. on his
website
at http://www.papajohn.org

The answer to your question then is, yes Movie Maker will do the same job.
only better,
providing you have a firewire installed in your PC. These are quite cheap
now anyway
and worth the cost of installing if you wish to make movies.
