Capturing Analogue Audio via SVHS-IN Port

My Tosh. G63 does not have any analogue audio line-in ports. I wish to
digitise a number of home recorded cassete tapes. I have a few cassette
tape players with various outputs (RCA line-out, mini-jack output for
ext. speaker/headphones, standard jack output for feeding into a mixer
amp.). I have installed Audacity for the analogue / digital conversion.
HOWEVER there are no audio input ports in the Tosh. The manual states
that an SVHS-IN port must be used, using the red lead for audio right,
and white for audio left channels. However SVHS cables only have 4-pins
- all for video. Even Belkin do not sell a SVHS cable with phono plugs
at one end!! Has anyone solved the problem of using an SVHS cable to
input audio only? Many thanks - CJB.

You can use the microphone socket.....

S-Video is video ONLY.... no audio is carried. The red and white jacks are
commonly known as composite or RCA.

The microphone link in will be mono (check with Toshiba but unless you have
one of the top of the line notebooks, they're nearly always mono).... if you
want something a little more sophisticated, then you're looking at
purchasing something like:
