Line in recording not working.

T

The Old Fart

I wanted to copy some some music from some old audio cassettes & so I
connected the earphone out of the cassette player into the line in jack
of my motherboard. Before doing so I plugged earphones into the audio
jack of the cassette player & it all worked OK.

My problem is that the music going into the line in jack isn't being
heard by any of my PC programs which means that I am unable to make the
recordings. I have tried using all of the programs on the PC that can
record & none of them can hear the audio. I've tried programs like
Nero,Vegas & audacity but none cane hear what I want to record.

I suspect that the problem might be related to the PC tuner card that I
have installed which also has audio in for making analogue recordings
but this doesn't work either. I see no flags in the devise manager.
Where do I go from here to try to resolve this problem?

Needless to say I can hear other sounds from all other programs.

Try this: double click the tray speaker icon near the clock, click
'options' and then 'properties'. You should see a place to set
recording settings. Make sure the 'line in' is checked, and the volume
level is not muted.
