Capturing analog through Canon DV into MM2

Could someone help with capturing analog to digital through my Canon M50 camcorder into MM2? I have the settings correct in the camcorder, but MM2 will only recognize the actual tape in the camcorder and not the throughput from the analog source (VHS player)

Thanks

Mark,
It is said that most of the Canon series will not do
through because MM2 will not support it.....I have heard,
however, the 60 series, might.
It is normally suggested to copy the VHS to DV tape in
camera then transfer that.

That said, though I can't clearly recall it, I did find
some information somewhere that suggested a workaround.
You might be able to reseach for that. I hadn't gotten to
that point as I don't get the output quite right for the
DV projects I have.
.....Sorry for the tease. Wish I could direct you more
quickly.

Unless the answer comes from someone else it might be
quicker, in the meantime, to just take the time to dub to
DV and capture that.

Anthony.

I had similar problems with my Sony trv33. It seems that even if you take the tape off, you cannot get the analog passthrough to work
I used a freeware tool http://windv.mourek.cz/ to do the actual capturing and did the editing in moviemaker by importing the generated type-2 avi
I can recommend windv, its free, small and doesn't require installation. There's also a program called dvio but it has no preview window.

See the MM2 Limitations section of my website... the 3rd paragraph covers
'pass-through' and gives a link to Microsoft utility which helps a lot.

Which section is that? I can't locate it.

Is it under

MM2
Camcorders
Analog Video Capture
....
....
Do Amazing Things

?
