Captions on the side of the figure

I would like to include a caption on the side, rather than below th
figure.

I normally include the figure and its caption in a frame. When I chang
the picture layout to 'square', in order to allow for the caption t
sit next to it, rather than underneath, the frame disappears and al
the layout gets messed up.

Does anybody know any way around this? Many thanks
