Caption Styles

I have crated two new paragraph styles called Caption Figure and Caption
Table for use when inserting captions. Is there a way to get Word to
automatically use these styles when inserting the respective captions? As of
now, Iinserting a caption puts the text into Word's Caption style, and I have
to select either Caption Figure or Caption Table to show the style I want.

Also, I would like all of our captions to be in the form of Figure or Tabel:
Caption Text. Is there a way to automatically format all captions with the
label name followed by a colon and the caption text followed by a period?
This is the style we want to use, but we have multiple writers currently
using different styles. I would like the process to be as automated as
possible. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

To accomplish what you want, create two AutoText entries. Insert a figure
caption in the desired format (be sure to apply the paragraph style and add
a colon). Select the paragraph and create an AutoText entry. Repeat for the
table caption. The next time you need a caption, insert the appropriate
AutoText.
