Caption numbers disapper when printing a read only copy of server

When I open a document someone else has open as read only then print the
document all the caption numbers (eg the 1 in Table 1) disappear. This seems
to be a less than helpful enhancement.

I'm not 100% certain of this so I may stand corrected by another, but I
believe the reason is that you're dealing with fields which, by default, are
updated when printing takes place. That updating can't be done if the
document is opened as Read Only so the information is "missing" in the print
job. Try this:

When you go into the Print dialog click the Options button & remove the
check for "Update fields before printing". I believe that will allow the
document to print the current content of the fields, although that content
may not be current/accurate. It's dependent on when the fields were last
updated.

So a reviewer cannot easily review a document by printing it. This is not
helpful. I can use the option of save a local copy when open the document.
But that still seems silly. The way it was done in Word 2003 seemed fine.
