Cantact based????

I have tried using Outlook 2003 several times and get frustrated with some
things. It is contact based. Though contacts are important, the way Outlook
set up is not that helpful to me. I work on a file or project basis. My
question is, can Outlook 2003 be customized to do the following things.

Set up a file as the basis, then list and schedule several specific tasks
to that file and set deadlines to be met. Would like to also set up
appointments and other task associated with investigating a file. Certain
contacts would be associated with every file. I would like to automate much
of this process as certain deadlines and activities remain the same for a
particular file.

Can anyone help me set up a this type system make Outlook or usable for me?

This is all probably possible, but not out of the box. You'd have to write custom programming code. Out of the box, your best bet would be to organize projects by assigning a separate category to each item associated with a particular project.

The alternative is to use contacts as you would "files" or projects.
