Can't wake PC after going into standby

P

Peter Rossiter

Using Control Panel's "Power Options" I can put my PC into standby
either after a specified interval or by pressing a designated key.

But I can't make it wake up again. How do I do this?

----

As background:

I do not use a USB mouse or USB keyboard. I use a NIC to attach to
a cable modem.

I have tried the power button on the case, all the three power
button son the keyboard, mouse movements, keyboard presses,
removing the ethernet cable, etc. All without joy. :-(

Normally pressing a key. Is your computer by chance a Compaq? They've always
had hibernation problems. If so they have downloadable fixes on their
website. Same could be true of your computer if it isn't a compaq.
One more option. Does your keyboard have a half moon on it? Some keyboard
drivers are designed so that only that button will take you out of
hibernation.

Press the power switch on your computer briefly!
