I am having a problem reading what is one my CD’s in Windows Explorer. Windows Explorer recognizes the CD but does not display the contexts. It will not recognize any CD’s regardless of the brand. I have tried 3 different CD-RW’s and I get the same results from all three. If I restart my computer I can sometimes see the contexts, but not always. If you could lead me in a solution for this problem it would be greatly appreciated. This is very frustrating. If you could email directly with a possible solution, I would appreciate it. I only check the Q&A board about once a month. My email address is (e-mail address removed)

Hi Roger,

Download and install a tiny patch from the following URL to delete
upper and lower filters from the Windows registry:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts/xp_cd_dvd_fix.vbs

Download the file and double click on it, it is a vbs script, and you
can see its contents using notepad.

If you're using Norton Antivirus, it will warn you of a malicious
script. Choose authorize after you have checked its contents in
notepad.

Good luck
