can't use webcam and mic @ the same time

I have a WinXP, with MSN messenger 6.0. For some reason, I can't not run the
Webcam and Microphone @ the same time. Can some one give me any suggestions
as to why this happens?

This sounds obvious so forgive me if you've already done this. Check that
the mic is plugged in to the right connection on your sound card.

pls note... my webcam and mic work fine seperately, but can't work together
@ the same time in MSN Messenger 6
