Can't use pictures (Graphics) as bullets

I am new to FrontPage 2003 and am teaching myself to use it. Problem: I have
been unable to change bullets to images as software says it will. I R click
my list--list properties--picture bullets--specify pictures--BROWSE-- 1. It
wont let me open many of my folders, very limited. So I cant get to many of
my images in MY DOCUMENTS. 2. I tried importing the image I wanted to the
images folder of the website, then using it for pictue bullet, but all I can
get to appear is boxes with Xs in them. I tried importing the image as MS
Word Doc. (gif) and also out of paintshop pro. I tried previewing with
preview and also with preview in another browser. All to no avail. No bullet
image, only X boxes. Any advice appreciated. I am a BEGINNER. I have spent
days trying to make this work. I am afraid FrontPage 2003 might not be as
user friendly as they hype it to be. THANKS.

Make sure the image is a GIF or JPG file format, then import into the current open FP web / site,
then you should be able to select it as long as the site is open first, then the page, etc.
