I can't update my antispyware Definition Version: 5749
(current) to newer version it will not respond/hang when
opening or using update manually. I have to end task
using window task manager. Is there anyway I can download
the new definition and update manually offline?

Can you respond with the following information from Help, about?

Microsoft Antispyware version?

Spyware Definition version?

5749 is the current definition version.

If the Antispyware version is not .615, please go to the download site, a
few clicks below:

http://www.microsoft.com/spyware/software

and download. Run the downloaded file to upgrade.

my Microsoft Antispyware version is the latest version.
It happen recently. In the beginning it is OK. but now it
hang when I open it. I use dial up. I have to log off the
connection before I can open Microsoft Antispyware. After

What you can do is to clean the your temp folders (usually C:\Documents and
Settings\username\local settings\temp and c:\Documents and
Settings\username\local settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5 and
delete all the files in those directories and subdirectories). Then try to
perform the update again. If it does not help, there is a manual update
procedure. Follow these steps:

Right click on MSAS icon within systray and choose shutdown.

Right click and "Save target as..."

http://download.spynet.com/ASDefinitions/gcThreatAuditScanData.gcd

http://download.spynet.com/ASDefinitions/gcThreatAuditThreatData.gcd

Copy/paste these files to Program files/Microsoft Antispyware

Restart MSAS and "check for updates"

If the http:// does not work, try https:// instead..

Please follow Mikolaj's advice. However if :"is latest version" doesn't =
..615, then you need to update to .615. or you will continue to have these
problems.
