Can't update definitions on Defender Beta 2

I have repeatedly tried to update my virus definitions on Defender Beta 2 but
cannot do it. I have tried clicking on the reminder link (telling me I
haven't updated in 102 days), as well as going to Help and clicking on About
Defender and then clicking on the update link there. It just won't update.
I keep getting an error message (0x80244019, I think). Any suggestion as to
what I should do?

I too have had this problem. There seems to be nothing I can do about it.
Windowsupdate sometimes downloads the updates for me but not always.

It would be helpful if there was a manual download of the updates similar to
Lavasoft's AdAware and a decently working download from within the program if
our networks allow it.

I advise checking the other posts as I'm going to.

Flip:
Using Defender About, Exit and Stop the program. Go to Add/Remove and remove
Windows Defender. Restart (very important).
Go to Windows Updates and download and install all that is offered.
After aallll update are done, download and install Defender from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...e7-da2b-4a6a-afa4-f7f14e605a0d&DisplayLang=en
After installed check that version is 1.14.1452.3 dated 5/8/2006
Future Defender updates could install automatically, if not you can use the
Resolution on KB915105, in which you copy in RUN the following:
Msiexec /x {A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C}

I, like others, have tried most of the "repairs" in this thread and others to
get the definitions to update. None have worked. For now it's uninstall.
Now, admittedly the definitions are 105+ days old, but I just ran XSoftSpy
and found 38 malware items Defender didn't catch. I'll wait for the next
release.
