hi,
i was really hoping if someone could help me out
my problem is very simple but i cant manage to figure it
out. All i want to do is delete everything off my
computer and start fresh. but i cannot do this with
windows ep. Before i upgraded to xp i had me with a
toshiba recovery disk. If i couldnet fix the problem, i
could always put this in wipe everything out and
start all over. now this cd will not even work for me.
The help section tells me to go to add delete files and
uninstall windows but it will not let me and now it is
not even in that window anymore.
can someone please give me some help and tell me how to
uninstall windows ex or rease all of my programs and
files at one
thanx very much
my e-mail is (e-mail address removed)
thanx again for reading this

Boot your Windows XP CD, and you can format and reinstall.

You do it as part of a reinstall of the system after booting the XP CD
direct. Enter Setup, and after the license agreement take New Install.
When it asks you to confirm where, hit ESC; select and delete the
current partition and make a new RAW one to be formatted at the next
stage

The important point is the delete. Without that it will just go ahead
and make a new install over the top of the old one

But don't regard it as a piece of casual maintenance. Most things can
be sorted without getting near that stage: first refresh system files,
by having the CD in the drive and then Start - Run the line
SFC /SCANNOW

Next follow the method above, but instead of New Install, take Repair
Installation. That effectively does a reinstall (and removes all
updates) but retains installed software, settings and data (though
always back up essential data just in case0

Greetings --

If you performed an upgrade from Win98/Me, elected to backup the
old system files, and didn't convert the partition to NTFS, then all
you need do is boot into Safe Mode and Start > Control Panel >
Add/Remove Programs. All of these conditions _must_ be met for the
uninstall option to be available.
