Hi

I run Windows XP Home edition:

I have a Safecom bluetooth dongle (SBTC 1010) which has installed Blue
Soleil software. I am trying to uninstall the software but I can't do it in
Add Remove programmes or by using the uninstall.exe facility on the CD that
came with the dongle.

The manufacturers told me it's a windows problem. Has anyone else had this
problem or can anyone suggest a way of uninstalling the software without
having to perform a system restore (I've had this software on my pc for many
weeks).

Thanks

Give it a try in safe mode, reboot the computer and keep tapping F8
every couple of seconds til screen appears.

If the programmes running in the background then you may have problems
removing it, another way 'might be' to click start, click run and in
the window bar type msconfig clicking
ok.

A new window will open looking at the far top right you'll see 'Start
Up' and 'Services' tabs and click to open them if you see the
relevant programme in there, try unticking the box then Apply and OK
and reboot.

When you make changes to any of these you will get a pop-up window
when you reboot, simply click 'Do not show this again' box and it'll
go away.

I always advise when changing any of these boxes to make a note in a
safe place... so that anything goes wrong you can always revert back
with ease, be very careful which boxes you untick here.

[Following your reply to madmax in another thread concerning this registry
key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
]............

If it's in Add / Remove programs then it will be at that registry location,
( or possibly at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall )
but it may not be obvious.

Work your way down the list of subkeys of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

(including the long alpha-numeric strings at the start of the 'Uninstall'
key ) and look for a 'DisplayName' entry in the right-hand pane that
matches the one you want.

Then the 'UninstallString' key will be the string to uninstall the program
in the same right pane.

If executing that string [ eg via Start > run > (paste in the uninstall
string) ] doesn't work then you could try reinstalling the program, and then
immediately uninstalling it.

Hi

This didn't work I'm afraid but I did manage to remove the software another
way: I reinstalled it then uninstalled it using it's own facility. Thanks for
your help though.
