Can't "unfreeze" my DVD region

A

Austin Reece

I am an american citizen and bought my Sony Vaio notebook
in the States. But for the next 10 months I am living
here in Dublin, Ireland. I have been watching DVD's that
I have bought here in Ireland and ones that I brought
from the States, all the while, switching my DVD region
back and forth from regions 2 and 1. AFter about four
switches it has froze on Region 1. Sony tells me it is
out of their jurisdiction and that it somehow hurts the
harddrive to switch too many times. I would like to be
able to switch it on occasion, is there anything I can
do? My deepest thanks to anyone who can help me.

If you've already hit the hardware limit, it's Sony's responsibility to
reset it.... only they can do it.

If you haven't hit the limitation, google for DVDGenie....it's a software
program that will let you change multiple times without affecting the
hardware.
