Cant Transfer .pst file successfully.

Hi:

I just got a new laptop and have been attempting to set up outlook on it (I am using a
wireless network). I have copied the mailbox.pst file from my old system on to the laptop,
but for some reason when I use file open on outlook it wont pick up the pst file and use
it.

Import and export wont work because they don't deal with .pst files it appears. Can
someone suggest a good way to transfer the address book, especially from one system to the
other?

Thanks

What do you mean File > Open "won't pick up the pst file?"
Of course it will. How did you copy this file? Did you remove its read only
attribute?
What Outlook version are involved?

I am sorry things changes after I sent the message:

Outlook 2000

After some struggle I got it to recognize the file, but now it wont pick up
(recognize/show) the Address Book on the new system. I tried to export the address book
only (using Address book export in the old system) but the buttons on the address book for
import and export are inoperative. Hence, my problem now is that I cant transfer the
address book .

Can you help me with that?

Thank you.

I am sorry things change after I sent the message: I had orginaly found the read only
problem, and fixed that.

There is no Address Book in Outlook. That's why there was nothing to export.
Contact data is in the Contacts Folder. I assume your Contacts Folder is
intact? If so, simply configure your Outlook Address Book view to show it.
If you don't know how, we'll need to know what mail support mode of Outlook
2000 you are using. (Look at line 2 of Help | About if you don't know).
