Can't sync time with Internet

R

Rutetuti

Hi,

Every time I try to sync' the time via the internet I get "error occurred
while Windows was synchronizing with <server name>". I have tried about 6
different time servers, all give the same result. If, as I suspect, it is a
firewall issue (I use MacAfee) what port /setting do I adjust to allow the
time to sync' OK.
Or is it another issue?

Thanks

I have the same issue with PCTools Firewall. Just temporarily disable the
firewall. Sync the time. Then re-enable the firewall.

I have since gone back to the Vista firewall and Vista Firewall Control
(free) from

I've been having the same problem. My software firewall is not blocking
access, although I am on a lan, so the router firewall might be blocking it
although I don't see why. Time synchronization was working previously, now no
server will work.

I have had the same issue and also use McAfee. To answer your question you
have to enable port 123 (w32time) under "system services" when your under
program permissions or the area where you would modify which programs have
access to the internet.

Once you enable port 123 or under system services check "network time
protocol" and your computer will be able to update with windows time server
or any other server you may choose.

Also... If you use any other 3rd party firewalls you would also have to make
sure that the network time protocol (port 123) is enabled or granted to
access internet.
