Cant stop this annoying popup at boot

Ever since I installed Win2000, when I boot, it says "found new
hardware" Ethernet (something). I've had to deal with this for
years, always click the CANCEL button before windows fully loads. It
sure would be nice to stop it, but how? I DO NOT have an ethernet
card, I dont network, dont have a need to network. I went into
Control Panel, tried to remove it, disable it, **** it up, beat the
hell out of it, looked at the STARTUP folder for it, even deleted
Windows and reinstalled.... and more. There is no frikkin ethernet
card even plugged into this computer. Yet I cant stop this annoyance.
WHY? How do I finally kill it? Or am I stuck living with this damn
thing forever and hitting the cancel button for eternity?

Thank You

Though you say otherwise, it appears there is a network adapter in
your system. Could be built into the motherboard, but either way, it
appears to be there - though giving us the complete message Windows is
reporting might tell the full tale... Easiest way is probably to
install the drivers for it, or if the found new hardware wizard has a
"don't ask me about this hardware again" type option, you could use
it.

Arthur: All my life I've had this strange feeling that there's
something big and sinister going on in the world.
Slartibartfast: No, that's perfectly normal paranoia. Everyone in the
universe gets that.

Look in your BIOS for an option to disable it.
