Can't shut down, save.exe not responding

I'm running xp home and I can't get it to shut down. When
I try I get a window saying " save.exe" shutting down,
then after the timer runs out I get the choice to either
cancle or shut down, clicking either seems to cancel the
shut down procces. Any Idears??

Save.exe is a part of a adware/spyware application that was installed on
your machine.
