The Litwaks
I have two computes in my home. One has a wireless router, the other
an adapter. For over fifteen months, I've been happily connecting to
the Internet from the one with adapter and using a shared printer that
is directly connected to the PC with the router. Both run Windows XP. I
recently was having trouble getting to the Internet from the remote
system, and after trying several things, including setting up WEP for
the router, and copying a running a special file that the Linksys
software created for the remote computer, I was able to use the Internet
on the remote computer without a hitch. Now, however, the printer that
I've been sharing for months is unreachable by the remote computer. I
looked at the printer settings on it. It complained the print spooler
was not running. I went to the computer that has the printer and the
router and made sure the print spooler properties were the way I wanted
them. Then I returned to the remote computer and attempted to set print
spooler properties. That went okay but I then got an error message that
the print spooler program was not running. The printer showed that it
could not be connected to. I decided to delete the printer and add it back.
Well, even though the remote computer can get to the Internet, it
cannot find the shared printer at all. WHy would it be able to do that
fine for fifteen months but now nt be able to do so? Thanks.
