Can't set up a network

E

Ernie Lane

I am trying to set up a wireless network in my home.

After installing a router on the desktop computer, I ran the Network Setup
Wizard. At the point where it is configuring the computer, I get a message
that the Spooler Subsystem App has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Consequently, the network isn't set up.

I can work around this -- email documents to print to that computer, rather
than print directly -- but it's a major inconvenience. What is probably
going wrong, and how do I fix it?

Thanks.

I had plenty of headache setting up my network, which is both wired and
wireless. Visit www.homenethelp.com for tons and tons of info and a myriad
of tutorials to help you set up your network correctly and easily. The
tutorials are very easy to follow, and the one I used made the setup a
snap..... now I share files, printers, and other devices among 3 computers.
Microsoft support couldn't help me, linksys support couldn't help me (both
of which I payed good money to) but this site (which is free) solved my
problems in about 15 minutes!
Good luck!

That web site, as are all of them I can find, give you basically not a whole
lot more than what is in the user manual, knowledge base, and so forth
anyway -- but certainly not something as complicated as this. I would hope
that some smart Microsoft guy would see this and tell me what to do.

Shutting down the Spooler app and running the Network Wizard didn't work?
