Can't send or receive in Windows mail

At first everything was normal then without warning I couldn't use my outlook
express nor outlook to send or receive. I recieved a message saying server
rejected password. I tried to access my talktalk account on the web using
browser internet explorer. Again, same problem-server rejects password etc.
Checked with talktalk & they can access with password, which was correct.
Tried to access my yahoo account, could not logon. I have now downloaded
Opera browser and can reach web mail through this browser.
Can anyone help me get my outlook working properly again?
(Incidentally things went wrong around the time my kids downloaded msn
messenger-now removed- i don't know if there is any connection

In the absence of any error messages a reasonable guess is
that you are being screwed by antivirus software.

Which product are you using? Norton, McAfee or another?

It would also help to know who is your ISP and see
any error message and codes you might have encountered.
(Obscure your email address in any posted
error message.. no one needs know that.)

Your problem statement is rather confusing because you refer
to Outlook and Outlook Express several times, even though you
have Windows Mail in the subject title.
Do you need your "outlook working properly again" or do you
mean Windows Mail?

sorry-when I said outlook- I meant windows mail-it seems very similar. Then I
tried using microsoft outlook, but that didn't make a difference. The problem
is, i was able to use windows mail at first and now I can't, and can't use
internet explorer to access my mail from the web. When i use another PC, eg
from work, with internet exporer I can access webmail from talktalk account
or yahoo, using my password, no problem. The problem seems to be connected to
the fact that my home pC uses vista.

Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee or Norton
security programs. Those will need to be uninstalled, not just
disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

It is likely that while you were using Norton it corrupted your
mail account. So, if after uninstalling Norton your Windows Mail
still doesn't work properly, delete that account, restart WM,
then recreate that account.
