Can't send or receive e-mails on XP

Scott Weigl

I just got a new DELL laptop with xp pro. When setting up internet service i
received e-mails on Outlook express.
When I loaded Outlook and set it to my default mail service I suddenly can't
send or receive anything on either outlook or outlook express. When I hit
the send/receive button on the bar it simply says job completed even though
nothing came in.
Any ideas? Help

Hi Scott,

I just had a similar problem...

When I clicked Send / Receive the dialog opened telling me
that 0/0 tasks had been completed even though I knew that I
had mail waiting to be downloaded from the server.

If, instead, I clicked Tools | Send and Receive, it worked.

I tried everything I could come up with while in Outlook.

Then, I went into Control Panel | Mail | Show all Profiles.

I deleted the only profile I had.

I created a new profile with a new name.

When I launched Outlook, all was fine.

HTH,
