E-mail username: (e-mail address removed)
password: xxxxxxx
remember password is checked

under the sdvanced tab the following info

Shouldn't your username on the optonline provider be something like
(e-mail address removed)? Why are you using your AOL username on the
optonline servers? Contact tech support at your Internet Service Provider,
in your case, optonline, for help in setting up your email on their servers.

You can add more than one email account under Windows Mail
(which is the email program I assume you're using), but incoming
mail from all email accounts goes into the same Inbox.

If you want to add an AOL account, see here:

http://email.about.com/od/windowsmailtips/qt/et_access_aol.htm

http://members.aol.com/adamkb/aol/mailfaq/imap/

Note that it doesn't use port 25, so it avoids the common problem
with port 25 connections being blocked if they cross from one
internet provider's equipment to another's before they reach the
server.

You may have to ask optonline.net for instructions to use if they
gave you a special AOL account to use. I couldn't find instructions
on their web site for using the optonline.net mail servers, if there
are any.

What is the exact error message you get?

You need to decide if you will send mail via Optonline
or AOL. Either or both can be set up in Windows Mail.
