I have had vista forabout 3 months now and my email, working through Windows
Mail has worked fine...up until tonight. All of a sudden I can receive
messages but not send messages. I called Charter to verify my setting were
correct and based on the error number I get, I was told it is a Microsoft
problem. Error number 0x800CCC79.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Actual message when I try to send mail: (with the recipients email deleted
and replaced with ***)

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '******'. Subject 'Fw: [Fwd: FW: THE YEAR IS
1907]]AMEN BROTHER!!!!!!', Account: 'pop.charter.net (1)', Server:
'smtp.charter.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 Invalid recipient:
<*******>', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number:
0x800CCC79

I take it that Charter is your home ISP. When you attempted to
send that message, were you at home or somewhere else?

The Charter mail server is saying that the address of the intended
recipient is not valid. Do you get that same result regardless of
whom you send to?

Gary,
Yes, Charter is my ISP - I am at home and yes it does this no matter who I
try to send mail to.
