Can't send email from sub-address

MSL

Set up btinternet email account in Outlook 2002, running in win XP
Main account name, say - (e-mail address removed) - works perfectly for
incoming & outgoing emails.
Sub account, say - (e-mail address removed) receives emails correctly but
does not allow sending
All account details same as main account (except, of course address) but if
I send test message I get following error:
'Send text e-mail message: Unable to send test message. Please verify the
E-mail address field'
Which I have and can see no problems.
Only other thing of possible relevance - accounts set up on different user
profiles
Any advice please ?

Is this through Yahoo like SBC? If so, then the credentials for logging
into the Yahoo server will be different for the main account vs. the
"subaccount". The username will be (e-mail address removed), matching the
mail address, just like the main account's username matches its mail
address. The password may be different as well, but since you set up the
subaccount, you already know this.

The nice thing about Yahoo accounts used by its partners is that even though
they're called "subaccounts", they're really distinct users to Yahoo's
servers and their mailboxes are completely separate from the main account's
mailbox.
