Who told you to use 'pop1.ns.sympatico.ca' as your account name while
authenticating on SMTP server? Try choosing 'Tools', 'Accounts', <your mail
account>, Properties, [Servers], 'User authentication required',
'Details..', select '() Same as user login' (*exact wording may vary*).
 
Outgoing (SMTP) server should be 'smtp.bellaliant.net'

Incoming (POP3) server should be 'pop.bellaliant.net'

The account name does not matter; it's strictly cosmetic.
 
Try this:
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
Enable the "My server requires authentication" option.

If no improvement, are you sending from home, or from a laptop
away from home? Was Sympatico providing your connection to the
Internet when you got that error?

Joanne, I responded to your send problem yesterday. Are you unable
to read the responses?
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced,
change port 25 to port 80.
Then go the Servers tab, and enable the "My server requires
authentication" option. Click OK. Try sending.
If you get a new error message, please post it here.

remove the space...
'smtpout. secureserver.net' should be
