can't send e-mails

this is my first time using vista and i am trying to send e-mails and it
will not send. please help
 
Is there an error message?
If so, please post the complete error message.
Are you using a mail provider other than Hotmail, since
Windows Mail won't work with a free Hotmail account?
 
Here is the error message I am getting. Any idea how to fix it?
