Hi there,
I have changed my Internet supply from pay as you go wireless to O2
broadband one. Live in Sheffield, UK. Can receive mails on my Windows Mial,
but unfortunately can't send any. Following message arrives :
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Work application',
Account: 'poczta.interia.pl', Server: 'poczta.interia.pl', Protocol: SMTP,
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Could you please help ?
Thank you
Witek

I am assuming you are using windows mail / Vista as you posted in this
account.

Go to Tools - Accounts - click on your mail account - Properties. On the
Severs tab what have you put for incoming/outgoing mail??

What you experienced is normal. As a general rule, the owner of
the SMTP server must be the same as the one providing your Internet
connection at that moment. For more on this see
http://www.postcastserver.com/help/Port_25_Blocking.aspx

The available workarounds for a port 25 block are as follows:

1. Use webmail for sending (via your browser).
2. Ask Interia.pl if they have a port other than '25' for SMTP.
3. Use the SMTP server belonging to your connection, mail.o2.co.uk .

Why are you asking the OP this? His server is clearly identified in the
error message he provided.

Gary,
Witek has been coming here with this problem, several times since the 11th,
I believe that he does not know to click the + next to his message to see
replies.

Because he has recently changed providers and I was just ruling out the
possibility that he hadnt changed all settings over to the new account.

The error message reveals the current settings, which is why
I always ask to see an exact copy of the error message.

To avoid confusing the OP, it's best to leave troubleshooting to the experts.
