Can't see workgroup computers

I have 2 machines running XP. They are connected to the internet thru a hub.
Each can connect to the internet and each can ping the other but ONLY when my
ADSL connection is plugged in. They each have a unique name and they are in
the same workgroup but neither machine can see each other on the network. I
have tried using Netbui but it didn't work. Any suggestions would be
appreciated.
