Cant see tables in Access 2002

On opening a database which was working fine yesterday I am unable to see
tables or queries in the database windows however, reports that are based on
those tables and queries open fine and hold all the data in the tables and
queries.
Forms are also OK. I just cannot access the tables and queries.
Anyone know what is going on and what can be done about it.
I tried to import them into a blank database but the process sees no tables
or queries either.
Also did a compact and repair with no change.
HELP please

Hi.
On opening a database which was working fine yesterday I am unable to see
tables or queries in the database windows however, reports that are based
on
those tables and queries open fine and hold all the data in the tables and
queries.
Forms are also OK.

Select the Tools -> Options... menu and then select the "View" tab. Ensure
that the "Show Hidden Objects" and "Show System Objects" check boxes are
marked. Select the "OK" button to save the change. Do you see the tables
and queries in the database window now?

Thanks for your reply but I already tried that and the database didn't even
show the system tables normally shown when you click on Show Hidden System
Objects etc.
Still no tables or queries are shown.
I've been working with access for 10 years and never seen this and the
Microsoft Support page has nothing on this.

Extremely odd. What happens when you create a new table, say a generic
Table1? Does the name appear in the Database Window as soon as you save it,
or does it never show its face?

I hadn't tried that but I just did and it allowed me to create the table
with no problem but it too was dot listed in the database window.
As I said, I have been working with Access for ten years and never seen
anything like this.
And the fact that I can't find anything on the Microsoft site concerning
this is really upsetting. I can't be the only person this has happened to can
it?
Thanks again for your thoughts and input.

I've occasionally seen all objects disappear from one of the database windows
(usually Reports or Forms, though, not tables). When it's happened to me
switching from the blank window to a different one and then back has usually
restored the objects... sounds like that's not the case for you!

I just wonder if the tables are there but just offscreen. Is there a scrollbar
visible? Try using Windows... Cascade and/or maximizing the window to see if
it changes anything.

Thanks so much for your input. The tables are still obviously in the
database becasue when I call up a report or open a form the data is their
from the tables or queries that are the Record Source for the Forms or
Reports. There are no scroll bars evident in the database window.
I even opened the database in Access 2007 and the same thing occurs. No
tables or queries are listed but all Forms and Reports are there and the data
is in the Forms and Reports.
I have been working with Access for 10 years and are very conversant in
Access Basic and have created many many applications using Access for a
variety of projects and have never seen this happen. As I told one other
responded, even Microsoft Support has no mention that I can find of this kind
of problem.
It's the damndest thing I ever saw.
Well thanks again so much for your interest and feedback, I really apprecite
it.
