Can't see network connections in network connections folder

After using the network connection wizard the new network
connections don't show up in the network connections
folder. I saw a similiar problem addressed in an article
that said this problem could be solved by installing
Q329441 critical update. I did that, but still have this
problem. Any thoughts? Thanks.

First make sure that your Network Connections Service and Remote Access
Connection Manager services are running. If they are then compare the LAN
connections in the connections folder with the
Network Adapter drivers in device manager. If there is a Network Adapter
driver that doesn't have a corresponding connection in the connections
folder then try reinstalling it.
