Hi,
I use XP Pro to copy files to the CD Burner. There are two burners on my
Dell system. One is a combo NEC CD RW and DVD RW. The other is an LG CD RW.
Both are high speed.
The LG always works with blank CDs or commercially loaded CDs. No problem
with using this burner at all. It always works. This was installed
aftermarket.
But the Dell installed NEC Combo burner is a different story...it just
drives me nuts. Here's why. If I put a commercially recorded CD into it, XP
Pro Explorer will always show me the files on the CD. In other words, the
burner is working fine. But if I put in a CD with files I have previously
recorded on it, or perhaps a blank CD, SOMETIMES I see the files in
explorer...SOMETIMES I see nothing with explorer telling me there is no disk
in the drive. Eventually if I keep unloading and reloading the CD tray, the
files will show up. The record is twenty one loads and reloads before I could
see the files!!
Why does this burner always work with a commercially produced CD and only
sometimes with a blank/self recorded CD?
Thanks for any assistance.
