Using Outlook 2007 on windows XP with desktop search installed.

Once outlook was installed, could search inbox fine.

Imported email from previous computer from a .pst export, and now cant
search for mail in any folder. Looking at indexing status gives 26920 items
remaining in "Personal Folders"

This was a fresh install of office and XP, as was having same problem on PC
after upgrading. Was told best option was a clean install. Very frustrating
that it still occurs.

Can anyone help with this, before I go back to Office 2003

You should have just opened your previous .PST file in Outlook through the
File menu (File | Open | Outlook Data File). There is no need to import from
a .PST, as that is Outlook's native file format.

Try creating a new mail profile and see if that helps. Don't delete the old
profile until you're sure the new one works as it should.

Hi
Using a different profile does the same thing, as does using the same mail
file on a different PC (running Vista and Office 2007)

Try running Office Diagnostics from Outlook's Help menu. I believe it will
scan your .PST file for errors, among other tests it will perform.

Thanks for the tip. Tried that and no problems were found. Still no indexing
of mail documents though.

I cannot search in any of the folders, tasks, notes, contacts in 2007. I
have been using a trial version since December 15th +/- 2006 of 2007. About
a week ago, the search portion stopped working. I thought that this occurred
becasue the end of the trial was eminent. so, I boutght the program. Even
after in converting, the search does not function. Can anyone help. I have
not imported any addresses since I first installed the program in December.
