I was trying to download and then save to my hard drive a pdf manual that
is
around 141 pages. I seem to get as far as downloading it but when I try to
save it then I get a message something like Server disconnection timed out.
Is there a way around this? Unfortunately I am on dial up connection.

I am at the moment trying to save this pdf file by right clicking on it and
Save Target As. Is this the same as Save As?

TIA

It depends on the file. Copyright protection may be in place to try
to prevent you from saving a copy of it.

However, if you have already downloaded a copy of it for viewing
and if you are allowed to save it (albeit accidentally) you may find
that it is cached in your TIF. In that case you could either copy it
out of there or reuse the link you used initially while in a Working Offline
state by right-clicking it and choosing Save Target As...

Yes but try using it after you have downloaded it normally
and after you set Work Offline (Alt-F,W); otherwise you
may just be redownloading it again and possibly exposing
to the server that you are downloading it to save it, etc.

Good luck
