Can't save GIF or JPEG files since Update

Just updated the computer with KB810217 and KB824145 and now I find that I
can only save images in the Bitmap format when I right click them. This has
affected both Internet Explorer and emails in Outlook.
This is getting annoying as I'm now totally fed up with having to go to
lengthy processes to first manually name the file as a Bitmap and then have
to go into an imaging program to convert it back into it's original Gif of
Jpeg format.
To me this isn't security but insanity as I've now read that the update
can't be reversed. I'm not in the least impressed with the updates. Well
done Microsoft for trashing my system!
Is there any way that I can now manually configure the computer so that I
can once again right click on the image, choose the Save Picture As option
and be able to save it in the correct format and filename automatically as I
did before the so called updates?

This apparently happens when your IE Temporary Internet Files cache becomes
stuffed. In IE, go to Tools>Internet Options and on the "General" tab click the
button marked "Delete Files" under the heading "Temporary Internet Files"

Thanks to both of you for the very simple solution to the problem and it
worked a treat. It was obviously a coincidence that it occurred immediately
after installing the updates.
Most things have a very simple solution when you know how.
Thanks again.

This happens if the indexes of the Temporary Internet Files get
overloaded. In Control Panel - Internet Options, in the temporary
internet files section on the General page, click 'Delete files'. Then
I suggest click Settings and reduce the space allowed - 50 MB is
probably generous, and on big drives it tends to choose by default a
setting that is so high that this overload happens
