Hi,
I have a new HP computer, WIN XP PRO SP2, which I am configuring from
the Administrator account. I prefer the full Classic rather than XP
display, as it is less cluttered and clearer type, at least to me, and
no sounds. Initially, I had a problem that when I rebooted, the Sound
Scheme, Display Appearance | Scheme, and Display Appearance |
Appearance, reset to the WIN XP defaults.
After applying xp_save_settings.vbs and savesettings.reg, I was able
to solve the Sound Scheme problem. Using the Group Policy Editor to
"...force Windows Classic" I was able to "solve" the Scheme problem.
The only loose end is with the Display Appearance | Appearance
settings. When I reboot, all three boxes reset to the defaults. The
GPE has the ability to remove this settings, but it does not seem to
lock in the current suggestions. I am new to the Pro version, but
looking through the GPE shows all the apparently relevant items set to
"Not Configured" except the one I changed above.
Any suggestions on this, or perhaps the completely obvious fix to
everything I have overlooked?
