Can't Save Changes

Jim Franklin

Hi,

I have an A2K app which I have just I have just started to convert to
multiuser. In order to change the ownership of all objects from 'Admin', I
have created a workgroup file, logged in with a new user ID and created a
new database. I have then imported all objects from my app. I have also
disabled all Admin permissions to the database.

The problem I have is that now everytime I try to make a design change I get
an Access message saying I do not have exclusive access to the database and
my design changes cannot be saved.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help,

Jim F.

Sorry, an extra question: is there any other way of changing the Owner of
the database? And does it matter? (oops, thats 2 questions!)

Thanks,
Jim F.

Hi,

Sorry Joan, I probably didn't give you all the information. I am aware of
the security FAQ and do intend to follow it (but thanks anyway.)

At the moment the database is only on my PC, in development stage. My
concern is that with the newly created database (i.e. after all objects have
been imported) I get this error even though I am the only person who has the
file open.

Does this help? Once again, thanks,
Jim F.

That's good - I still have doubts. Your first message was in past tense, as
though you had already done it. Now you say you 'intend to follow it'. ???

Open the file exclusively. File, Open and in the lower right you'll see a
dropdown where you can choose open exclusive.
